Each week we divert a literal ton of kai from supermarkets/retailers from ending up in landfill. Our staff and volunteers collect, sort then distribute the rescued kai to local organisations who then distribute to the community.
Using 450g as the weight of an average meal, this means every week over 2200 meals worth of kai is being given out for free to our community!
Already this year (2025) we have added 3 new retailers to our collections bringing the total to 8, consisting of 4 supermarkets, a green grocer, a baker, a service station, and Piwakawaka Farm (the learning environment). What an exciting start to the year!
